Want to spend some quality one-on-one conversation time with authors in your area? Short on time, long on manuscripts? Tired of your traditional, fuddy-duddy creative writing workshop? Do we have the workshop for you!

The Juniper Bends Author Collective presents: Speedshopping! Bring in a short (1-2 page) excerpt of your latest masterwork and get feedback from REAL LIVE authors in a variety of genres! Almost like a swanky night at speed dating, you will have 12 minutes to swap excerpts, exchange pointed critique and a few well-placed adjectives before moving along to your next partner. We’ve got essayists, metafictionists, plot junkies, and enjambment fiends. Come enjoy coffee & tea (donations appreciated) and groove to some funky jams.

This event is going down 7 pm on Sunday, September 30th, at the new community art space in downtown Asheville, Apothecary, and we want everyone to attend. Bring in two printed copies of your first pages, an excerpt you’re looking for feedback on, or a couple poems, and we’ll hook you up with authors for critique and conversation. Your local independent bookstore, Malaprop’s, has kindly donated some caffeine in the form of their awesome coffee.
